ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commanded the relevant agencies to carry out the recommendations made in the national energy conservation plan within the allotted time frame, reiterating that the government will do everything necessary to preserve the nation.
A review meeting on the execution of the energy saving strategy was presided over by Shehbaz. The meeting was updated on the solarization projects’ status. The prime minister was informed by officials that the federal government buildings would initially receive 1,000 megawatts worth of solar panels.
The bidding in this case would start the following week. The local policy-making process for the manufacture of solar panels had reached its conclusion, and discussions with the industries about solar panel production were finished.
The meeting was also informed that the local industry had been given the go-ahead to develop a complete policy to expand the manufacture of E-bikes and that, by the end of the current year, all new gas geysers would be equipped with conical baffles.
Christian Turner, the departing British High Commissioner, visited Prime Minister Shehbaz at the Prime Minister House before their meeting.
According to Prime Minister Shehbaz, there is a long history of good people-to-people ties between Pakistan and the UK.
According to him, Pakistan’s top trading, investment, and development partner in Europe is the United Kingdom. The development of our two countries’ bilateral relations “showed the enormous potential for expansion for the benefit of the two countries.”
The PM praised Dr. Turner’s contributions to advancing Pakistan-UK relations, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
The British high commissioner was also praised by the prime minister for taking the initiative to direct the UK’s assistance to Pakistani flood victims in need of relief and rehabilitation.
The PM was grateful for his assistance in luring the English cricket team back to Pakistan for a thrilling match after a 17-year absence. Shehbaz was also praised for his outstanding work in reviving British Airways’ commercial flying operations in Pakistan.
He sent the high commissioner his warmest wishes for success in his future endeavours. Additionally, he arranged a lunch in the high commissioner’s honour who was leaving.
