ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasised on Friday the necessity of fully implementing the Apex Committee’s conclusions, stating that the government’s primary duty was to ensure the safety and security of the populace.

An crucial meeting on the nation’s law and order situation was presided over by the prime minister. No security lapse would be accepted, he threatened. In order to improve cooperation between the Center and the provinces, he instructed Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah to travel to the four provinces.

The discussion covered the four provinces’ security concerns as well as those in Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), and Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK). He gave the order that concrete steps be taken to increase the effectiveness of counterterrorism departments (CTDs) throughout all provinces.

He emphasised that the law enforcement organisations need to have access to contemporary tools and gear. “The government’s top priority is to ensure the safety of its people. Negligence is not acceptable in this regard, Shehbaz remarked. Security lapses won’t be accepted.

The meeting was made aware of the actions being done to further organise safe city initiatives in major cities. According to the authorities, the federal interior secretary visited the four provinces at the prime minister’s request to investigate problems the provinces were having and assess the need for funding.
