The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Umar Ata Bandial, has been asked by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to set up a judicial committee to conduct a fair and reliable investigation into the murder of prominent journalist Arshad Sharif.

The prime minister requested that the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) convene a commission made up of all available judges of the Supreme Court to investigate the circumstances surrounding the journalist’s mysterious shooting death in Kenya last month in a letter sent to the court’s top judge on Tuesday.

According to the letter, the panel might concentrate on the following five issues about the circumstances surrounding the murder:

What steps did Arshad Sharif take to travel abroad in August 2022, and who made those arrangements?
Was the threat made against Arshad Sharif known to any federal or provincial agencies, institutions, or administrations?
What conditions and motives compelled Arshad Sharif to fly from the United Arab Emirates to Kenya?
What actually happened during the shooting incident that resulted in Arshad Sharif’s death?
Is Arshad Sharif’s death really the product of a misidentification or was it a “criminal game”?
The creation of a commission, according to PM Shehbaz, is required to protect the rule of law in the nation. He also stated that the federal government will give the panel its full support while it looks into the murder.

As questions about the possible involvement of government personnel in the gruesome murder were being raised, the premier advised the chief justice that a judicial inquiry into the death was required to regain the public’s trust in the state’s institutions.

The event happened a few days after the mother of murdered journalist Arshad Sharif, Riffat Ara Alvi, wrote Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial a letter on Wednesday asking him to appoint a high-level judicial panel to look into her son’s death.

“Protect the case from controversy and political hypocrisy and deliver justice to the family,” Riffat pleaded with CJ Bandial.

“On July 12, 2022, my deceased son Arshad Sharif sent you a letter while he was still alive to inform you of the numerous baseless criminal cases (multiple FIRs) that the current government had filed against him across the nation on the grounds of sedition and other offences, as well as the threats to his life. Because of this, my son Shaheed was compelled to flee the nation on August 10, 2022, and he sought asylum in Dubai “She composed.

She claimed that she was pleased when Sharif arrived in Dubai and was no longer in danger, but the government “pressured” the UAE government, forcing her son to leave the nation.

Riffat added that her son spent two months in Kenya before being “mercilessly killed.”

She also pleaded with the supreme court to pay attention to the government’s “behavior” in the wake of the occurrence.

Federal ministers began circulating various falsified claims about the killing of her son Shaheed, which are documented in the media, well before the inquiry team left for Kenya on October 28, 2022, she said.
