The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), which is looking forward to forming the federal government with the backing of independent candidates, is hoping to win two-thirds of the about sixty constituencies of the National Assembly in Sindh. This is being said in Hyderabad.
Syed Murad Ali Shah, who had previously served as the Chief Minister of Sindh, made the observation during a press conference held in Hyderabad that the party did not face any significant electoral challenges in the majority of the province’s districts. He made a plea to the people of Karachi and Hyderabad, urging them not to be misled by a political party. He was referring to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement – Pakistan (MQM-P), which had always been a part of the administration but had relegated itself to the background a few months before the end of the mandate of that government.
To ensure that they are able to deceive the general public, it has been their custom to abdicate their positions of power two to three months prior to the elections. He stated that the MQM-P has previously leveled accusations against the officers of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in Sindh for being partisan in favor of the PPP during the last elections. He went on to say that the same line of criticism is being followed during the campaign that is currently taking place.
He made the statement that those who are afraid of losing the election would hide behind excuses like these. According to him, the candidates of the PPP have also communicated their concerns and objections to the ECP regarding the selection of the polling stations in Hyderabad and in other parts of the province. This is in relation to the electoral commission’s decision to pick the polling stations.
According to him, however, they are pushing on with the election campaign despite the fact that they received protests. A similar program that was referred to as the result transmission system (RTS) had failed in 2018, and it ended up favoring Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Shah reaffirmed the concern that his party had over the Election Management System (EMS) software that is being used by the ECP.
His party is planning to hold a historic public meeting in Hyderabad on February 4, and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is going to be the primary speaker at the event, according to the announcement that he made. Before that, he presided over a gathering of the party that took place at the residence of Syed Ali Nawaz Shah Rizvi, who is the head of the PPP Hyderabad division.
