On this, anniversary of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), citizens from all walks of life are coming together to celebrate the Islamic holiday of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAWW).
According to Radio Pakistan, the day began with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital of Islamabad and a 21-gun salute in other provincial capitals. Soon after the morning Fajr prayers, mosques held special services for the betterment of the Muslim Ummah and the nation as a whole.
The official broadcaster further mentioned that special conferences, events, and Mehfil-e-Milad gatherings have been arranged in cities and towns across Pakistan to honour the last prophet of Allah Almighty, whose life and teachings are regarded as a beacon for all of humanity.
Lights and flags of many different colours have been strung up and draped across streets, roads, buildings, mosques, and homes to celebrate this joyous event.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar and President Dr. Arif Alvi have both issued calls for national unity and offered their best wishes.
In his statement, President Alvi said that the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) birth is “a tremendous blessing for all of humanity, as his life exemplified obedience to Allah Almighty, justice, compassion, and love for fellow human beings.”
President Alvi stated, “In the whole life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), we find a perfect model not only for faith and worship but also for all aspects of life,” highlighting that the Prophet’s teachings highlighted the all-encompassing and global nature of the Islamic message.
He emphasised that Pakistan is home to a wide variety of religious and cultural groups, and that as a result, “We should give importance to this diversity and should work diligently for the promotion of unity and better understanding among the fellow citizens.”
The president also stressed that the Prophet’s teachings are applicable to people of all cultures and time periods, and hence can be relied upon to help address the myriad problems that plague the globe today. In his speech, he urged all Pakistanis to value their country’s religious and cultural diversity and to seek common ground.
The nation was urged by Prime Minister Kakar to adopt Islamic values and promote the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He emphasised that Pakistanis should feel blessed to include themselves among the Prophet’s (PBUH) Ummah.
He added that the Prophet’s (PBUH) life should be looked to as an example of mercy, understanding, and love. He emphasised the importance of the Prophet’s (PBUH) message of unity and brotherhood among Muslims and people of other faiths, and he asked Pakistanis to follow the ideals of brotherhood, love, and compassion preached by the Prophet (PBUH).
In light of Pakistan’s current predicament, the prime minister urged the nation to return to the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) teachings.
Like the Holy Prophet (PBUH), he urged compassion for the disadvantaged. Let us band together, he said, “to aid the afflicted, to lend a helping hand to the needy, and to construct a better and more equal society for all.”
Kakar appealed to God, the Almighty, to transform Pakistan into a place of tranquilly, prosperity, and fraternity, and to provide his people the wisdom to live according to the example set by the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
