The National Assembly’s leader of opposition, Omar Ayub Khan, issued a warning on Monday against the crackdown on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) employees, claiming that parliamentary committees will be reviewing the testimony of many officers, including the IGs of Punjab and Islamabad.
“We are striving against electoral rigging,” Omar declared during a press conference in Islamabad amid the purported crackdown on PTI leaders and activists. Human rights abuses in Pakistan are on the rise right now. Human rights violations are occurring for PTI employees. We request the attention of the Supreme Court on this matter.”
He said that over 100 party workers had been arrested and that terrorist cases had been filed against them, and he denounced the government’s suppression of the PTI’s nonviolent marches around the nation.
We vehemently denounce this. On Maryam Nawaz’s directives, the IG is making this possible. The IG is now the PML-N’s domestic servant,” he continued.
Sher Afzal Marwat, Shoaib Shaheen, Amir Mughal, and other party leaders in Pakistan are the targets of lawsuits, according to Omar Ayub. “It is time to reveal the faces of the SSP, DC, IG, and others in Islamabad. The sole goal of the cops was to destroy PTI,” he declared.
The opposition leader promised to examine the testimony of officials by means of the Public Accounts Committees of the National and Provincial Assemblies.
“We will question everyone of these officers when we call them before any committee. They’ll all have to answer for their actions. Additionally, we’ll audit the interim administration. In order to determine where the costs are coming from, we will examine the financial records of each government agency,” he said.
Concerning the ongoing blockage of many social media networks, Omar Ayub voiced his concerns. The purpose of all of this is to prevent current information from reaching Pakistan’s youth. We insist that these websites be made accessible,” he pleaded.
He claimed that attempts would be taken to free Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi, and other PTI workers who were detained. “Bushra Bibi is not receiving enough facilities. Imran Khan’s frailty shouldn’t be associated with her, he continued.
He went on to address President Asif Zardari’s health, saying, “He is not fit to serve as the leader of Pakistan. He is too sick to assume the role of supreme commander. “I suggest that he concentrate on his therapy instead of seeking reconciliation,” he said.
