PTI encourages PML-N to join the consultative process.
There are rumors that the ruling party will allow the ECP to choose the interim prime minister.
In a show of good sportsmanship, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has urged its rival political party, the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), to take part in the selection process for the caretaker chief minister of Punjab after the dissolution of the province legislature.
According to PTI sources, Dr. Salman Shah, Pervaiz Hassan, and Shoaib Suddle were being considered for the coveted position during a consultative meeting held here on Sunday.
The PML-N, on the other hand, is contemplating Justice (retd.) Khalilur Rehman Ramday, former bureaucrat Nasir Mahmood Khosa, former Chief Justice of Pakistan Jawwad S Khawaja, as well as former Chief Secretary Azam Suleman for the position. Furthermore, there are numerous rumours that the PML-N may abstain from the consultation process and let Pakistan’s Election Commission (ECP) to choose the caretaker CM.
Imran Khan, the PTI chairman, gave the order to form parliamentary boards at the divisional levels within two days at the meeting. The central parliamentary board will receive lists from these boards listing all candidates who have been shortlisted.
The assembly also voted to put those party members on the blacklist who left the group in a trying circumstance. “When choosing candidates from minority groups and women, special consideration should be given. Their contributions to the party and the community will be taken into consideration, Imran said.
According to Article 224-A of the Constitution, the chief minister and the leader of the opposition must both unanimously agree on the choice of the interim chief minister, PTI Senior Vice President Fawad Chaudhry tweeted.
“The two suggested names from each side will be referred to the legislative committee if the two leaders are unable to come to an agreement. The names will be given to the ECP, which will choose one of them to be the chief minister if the parliamentary committee is unable to reach consensus on a candidate. The PTI leader made it clear that the commission lacks the jurisdiction to name anyone who is not on the provided list.
Fawad welcomed the opposition to consult on the temporary setup while speaking to the media. He emphasised that his party would put forward two candidates for the position of acting chief minister.
Imran declines to meet with feuding leaders.
Imran, the chairman of the PTI, refused to meet with any of his party’s estranged leaders on Sunday and told them to answer the show-cause notice issued to them for disobeying the party’s directives on Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s vote of confidence.
According to Fawad, there was no need for the aggrieved party members to approach the party chairman. They must answer to the show-cause letters by laying out their case to Asad Umar, the party’s secretary general.
Faisal Cheema, Momina Waheed, and Khurram Laghari were among those who received show-cause letters because they withheld their votes of confidence in Chief Minister Elahi. On Sunday, the irate PTI members made an attempt to speak with the party leader to explain their views.
Strong animosity is being seen among PTI employees toward defected members, and demonstrations are being held against them in their electoral districts for leaving the party at a key moment.
