In Punjab, the monsoon rains have arrived, bringing with them the promise of afternoon and evening showers to combat the intense heat and humidity over the next few days.
Significant rain is expected in Lahore during the afternoon and overnight, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). This is expected to bring much-needed relief from the extreme heat and humidity.
PMD predicts that the rain will lower the temperature and humidity, and that this monsoon rainfall will sporadically last for the following three to four days.
A warning has been issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) due to the expected severe downpour. Residents had difficulties as a result of the heavy downpour that occurred yesterday in numerous parts of the city, causing water to accumulate on the streets. Officials from the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) and district administration were observed proactively managing the water drainage after the late-night downpour.
It is anticipated that Lahore would see temperatures between a low of 28 degrees Celsius and a high of 35 degrees Celsius during this time.
