According to a doctor’s advice not to go, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman will not attend the Arab summit scheduled for November 1 in Algeria, the Algerian presidency announced late on Saturday.

In a phone contact with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Prince Mohammed, the kingdom’s de facto leader, “expressed his regret for not attending the Arab summit,” according to the statement.

Later, the Saudi foreign ministry released a statement about the phone call between the two presidents, but it omitted to indicate that the crown prince would not be present for the summit.

The 31st summit of Arab heads of state is scheduled to take place in Algiers on November 12.
