ISLAMABAD: Judge Muhammad Ali Mazhar of the Supreme Court has stated that a judge should always exhibit a “judicial temperament” and keep a composed expression when in the courtroom.

“A judge’s demeanour and demeanour in the courtroom are very important. Justice Mazhar observed, “A judge should not lose his patience with the stubborn,” during his speech to district court judges on Saturday at the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA).

The judge claims that bar associations typically do not object to a court’s rulings; rather, it is the judge’s demeanour and attitude that bothers them. According to him, bar associations become upset when a judge exhibits a negative attitude. He stated, “Judges ought to give this issue some thought.”

Justice Mazhar joked that a judge’s illnesses, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and other conditions, worsen when he becomes enraged too frequently.

“A judge ought to be true to his judicial nature at all times. A magistrate possesses a writing instrument. He said, “He need to preside over the court and write his ruling with composure.

He called judgement writing an art, stressing the significance of doing so and the need to properly document the facts. Evidence, according to him, serves as the cornerstone around which each side of a criminal case constructs its case.

The judge ruled that each of these abilities must be taught to aspiring judges in a judicial academy.

“These abilities improve the public’s image and perception of the administration of justice in addition to helping to deliver justice to litigants in a timely manner.”

Giving a brief overview of his own background, he stated that prior to being promoted to the rank of SC judge, he was a judge on the Sindh High Court, where he had the honour of holding several positions, including interim director general of the Sindh Judicial Academy.

“I have always attempted to adopt a proactive and dynamic approach to judicial education and training during my tenure, as this is the cornerstone of a proactive judiciary for the appropriate administration and dispensation of justice,” he continued.

Justice Mazhar also recognised the astute application of social media and technology, including YouTube and E-studio, to advance high-caliber judicial education and training. Ultimately, the judge granted certificates to thirty civil judges, judicial magistrates, and twenty-five district and sessions judges.
