DUBAI: Shaukat Tarin, a former leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), quit the Upper House of the Parliament on Sunday.
The chairman of the Senate, Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani, agreed to the resignation while speaking with the former minister in Dubai.
It’s important to note that Sanjrani went from Iraq to the UAE.
After leaving the party and politics, the experienced politician wrote in a message on Friday that he had helped different political parties run the country’s economy. He said that as finance minister in the PPP government from 2008 to 2010, he had kept the country from going bankrupt and kept the economy stable.
He also felt good about the fact that after 19 years, everyone agreed on the National Finance Commission Award. The economic poll of Pakistan 2022 says that Tarin said he had done his best work as finance minister during the 17 years that the PTI government was in power.
The government of the PTI chose Tarin to be the finance minister on April 17, 2021. His constitutional term finished on October 16, 2021, though, because he wasn’t elected to parliament. After that, the PTI government made him an adviser on finances. The PTI government was able to get Tarin chosen as a senator in December 2021. He was then given the job of finance minister again.
In a video message, Tarin said, “Covid had happened as well.” He also said that the last two years have been hard for him in terms of his health and finances.
He also said that he had talked to his family and friends about this choice before making it.
