Swati has asked the IHC for specifics regarding the other complaints filed against him.
Included in the petition are the Inspectors General of Sindh and Balochistan, as well as the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency and the Interior Ministry.
ISLAMABAD: Senator Azam Swati, a leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has filed a petition with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in order to acquire information regarding the cases that have been filed against him in Sindh and Balochistan.
In a plea that was submitted on Monday, Swati indicated that after being handed over to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on physical remand, he learned about other cases. Swati’s statement was made in response to allegations that he was involved in many crimes.
In his plea, he indicated that he had previously been granted bail in a situation that was very similar to this one. During his time in jail, he was also subjected to the harshest forms of torture, he said.
According to Swati, he has received information that while he is in detention, he could be killed or subjected to any kind of barbaric treatment.
He stated that when the evidence was produced in court, it was discovered that a case had been registered in Quetta. He also stated that cases had been registered in a number of police stations located around Sindh.
In the petition, he made a request for the specifics of the cases that have been lodged against him to be sought.
In addition to this, he advocated for the protection of fundamental civil and human rights.
According to the petition, a number of incidents had already been documented in both provinces. It was important to collect the specifics of the cases in order to exercise the legal right and get the services of lawyers, and since the real number was unknown, it was necessary to get those details.
In the appeal, it has been urged that the specifics of the cases be requested from the IGs of Sindh and Balochistan, as well as the FIA Director General.
The petition was amended to include the Sindh IG, the Balochistan IG, the FIA DG, and the interior ministry as parties.
