The Syrian Ministry of Defense said that a new Israeli rocket attack on several military sites in southern Syria on Wednesday night killed two people and hurt one military member.
The ministry said in a statement that Israel attacked from the air in the southern part of Syria late Wednesday night from the controlled Syrian Golan Heights, hitting several places.
It said that the Syrian air defense was able to stop some of the rockets and shoot them down.
The attack was in the Sayyida Zaynab neighborhood in the southern countryside of Damascus, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
A watchdog group in the UK said that Israeli rockets hit the service center of the Jihad al-Bina Foundation, which is linked to the Iranian and Lebanese militias and is near the Sayyida Zaynab area. The vehicles were stationed there.
It said that ambulances ran to the target area as thick clouds of smoke rose from it.
It also said that rockets were fired by Syria’s air defense system to stop the Israeli attack.
Israel has repeatedly attacked military sites in Syria, especially those thought to be home to pro-Iran groups or storage facilities for weapons related to Hezbollah, the Lebanese group that has been fighting Israel in the area for a long time.
