As a consequence of a letter sent by the Ministry of Interior to NADRA ordering the termination of this amnesty programme, the amnesty for foreign nationals living unlawfully in Pakistan would come to an end on December 31. This was ordered by the Ministry of Interior.

Fines will be imposed on non-Pakistani citizens who overstayed their visas and continued to remain in the country beginning January 1, 2023.

Those who overstay their visas for more than a year will be fined by NADRA in addition to being banned from entering the country once the amnesty programme has run its course.

A programme that is intended for non-Pakistani citizens who are living in the country illegally was announced on July 29 of this year by Pakistan’s Ministry of the Interior.

The amnesty programme exempted non-Pakistani nationals from having to pay hefty fines in order to leave the country, however that privilege would be revoked on December 31, 2022.
