CALIFORNIA, US: The wildfire in northern California was fast growing, involving thousands of firefighters as it more than doubled in size in only a single day.
As of Saturday afternoon, Cal Fire reported that the Park Fire had burnt over 350,000 acres (141,640 hectares), about 90 miles (144 km) north of Sacramento.
The area was expected to see cooler temperatures and more humid air, which might help with attempts to manage the fire, which was still 100% contained. Authorities stated that 134 structures had been destroyed by the fire.
Many towns in various counties received evacuation orders and warnings; one of the cautions was for Paradise, the town devastated by the deadliest Camp Fire in California history, which occurred in 2018.
Suspected of shoving a burning car down a ravine on Wednesday afternoon, a guy was taken into custody on Thursday.
According to the National Interagency Fire Center, there have been dozens of wildfires around the nation, with the Park Fire being the largest. These fires have burned over 2 million acres in total.
A number of fires were also raging in Oregon, notably the Durkee Fire, which had burned over 288,000 acres in the state’s eastern region. The US Forest Service said on Friday that a firefighter tragically lost their life after a single-engine tanker crashed close to the Falls Fire in southeast Oregon.
