LAHORE: On Tuesday, acting chief minister Mohsin Naqvi gave the province government broad latitude to act indiscriminately to stop price increases and guarantee the availability of necessities at the set prices.

While presiding over a meeting, he made it clear that the populace could not, under any circumstances, be left at the mercy of profiteers and hoarders.

The interim chief minister of Punjab further emphasised the need to take all reasonable precautions to safeguard the lives and property of the populace. He emphasised that legal action should be taken without discriminating against those who are involved in severe crimes and said that improvements in the law and order situation should be demonstrated.

He claimed that maintaining law and order was a top government priority and that the police had to vigorously carry out their duties to reduce street crimes.

He added that those responsible for atrocities against women and children must be dealt with harshly.

Inspecting General of Police Usman Anwar and Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman provided updates on the state of law and order, administrative issues, and pricing control measures.

Bilal Kamiana, the CCPO for Lahore, attended the meeting.

The interim chief executive also gave orders for the Central Business District’s Punjab Boulevard remodelling project from Kalma Chowk to Liberty Market to be finished as soon as possible.

By February 15, the rebuild of the underpasses connecting Barkat Market to Ali Zeb Road and Kalma Chowk must be finished.

The interim chief minister gave the contractor instructions to labour day and night to finish the project as soon as feasible.

According to him, the road’s two lanes must be functional within 24 hours so that traffic can go freely from Kalma Chowk to the Liberty crossroads.
