In the instance of Azam Swati, the SHC has issued notices.
In addition, the court asks the interested SSPs to produce a report regarding the specified cases by the 22nd of December.
KARACHI:
On Friday, the Sindh High Court (SHC) issued notices to the Sindh government, the prosecutor general, and the provincial inspector general regarding a petition concerning the registration of six cases against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Azam Swati in the province. The petition was related to the registration of the cases in Sindh.
The hearing that was held in relation to the application that was submitted by Usman Swati, the son of Azam Swati, in relation to the registration of the cases that were filed against the senator was presided over by a two-member bench that was presided over by Justice KK Agha.
During the proceeding, Justice Agha questioned what had caused Swati to be absent. In response to this, the attorney representing the petitioner, Advocate Anwar Mansoor Khan, informed the court that the senator is currently being held in custody and has been moved to Quetta.
Advocate Khan continued by stating that cases have been launched against the senator all over the country on the same charge, and that these cases are in violation of rulings made by the Supreme Court (SC).
Five of the six cases that have been registered against Swati in Sindh have been registered in Karachi, while the remaining one has been registered in Qamber.
Following this, the court sent out notices and instructed the relevant SSPs to file a report on December 22 concerning the cases that were listed.
It is important to take into account that Swati is now being held by the Balochistan police on physical remand for a period of five days.
A district and sessions court had postponed the proceeding of Swati’s post-arrest bail request without a hearing till December 12 since the judge had stated that he will be transferred to another court shortly. The postponement came about a day after the court had done so the previous day.
After a raid at his home in Chak Shahzad, Islamabad, the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) took the senator into an arrest for the second time for allegedly tweeting against key military personnel. This most recent incident occurred a little more than a week ago.
Following his arrest on December 1 by a district and sessions court that ordered him to serve a 14-day judicial remand in connection with the matter, the senator was escorted from the Islamabad airport to the Balochistan province, and from there he was sent to the Kuchlak jail.
The senator was the subject of multiple charges that had been registered against him, some of which were in Sindh and others in Balochistan. He had stated earlier that he had just learned about these cases after being turned over to the FIA on physical remand.
