The protesters’ resolve remains unwavering despite the pleasant weather and cloudy skies in Rawalpindi. Members were served naan and hot halwa for breakfast.

Two rounds of talks between Jamaat-e-Islami and government panels have so far neglected to deliver any outcomes. In a press conference, the Jamaat-e-Islami party’s Deputy Amir, Liaqat Baloch, is expected to discuss the next steps.

The sit-in, according to Jamaat-e-Islami, will continue until their demands are met, and the protest may spread nationwide. In the meantime, business as usual goes on and Murree Road remains open to traffic on one side.

Beforehand, JI delayed the protest booked for August 2 at D-Chowk in Islamabad. Express News reported that it was agreed upon that the rally would now take place on July 26.

As per sources, Inside Clergyman Mohsin Naqvi reached the administration of Jamaat-e-Islami, mentioning the delay of the demonstration.

During a question and answer session in Lahore on Thursday, JI pioneer Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman expressed that the demonstration date was changed because of the recognition of Ashura.

He stated that JI decided to postpone the sit-in until after Ashura in light of the requests from scholars and the security situation during Muharram.

Rehman reprimanded the public authority for its treatment of power bills, asserting they have shaken the country. He emphasized that the government’s actions have a negative impact on every segment of society, including the middle class and traders.

The JI leader cited the recent Rs8 per unit increase in commercial electricity rates as evidence that conditions would worsen in the coming days. He noted that even residential areas are not receiving relief, so he questioned how economic improvement could be achieved in such circumstances.

The leader of the JI made the announcement that, in place of the sit-in, there would be protests and camps in all cities across the country on July 12, with additional sit-ins in a variety of cities on July 14. Convoys from various cities will set out for Islamabad on July 24.
