THREE SC JUDGES TAKE OATH

Three judges elevated to SC take oath Justice Aamer Farooq was sworn in as IHC CJ.

ISLAMABAD: Following their elevation from high courts to the top court, the three newly appointed Supreme Court (SC) judges took the oath of office at the swearing-in ceremony on Friday.

Justices Athar Minallah, Shahid Waheed, and Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi were sworn into office by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial.

The swearing-in ceremony was attended by SC judges, Bar Council representatives, senior attorneys, law enforcement officials, judicial officers, staff members, and the families of the three judges.

The apex court now has a total of 15 judges after the oaths were taken. Two seats are still empty.

It should be noted that President Dr. Arif Alvi recently gave his approval for the appointment of the aforementioned judges to the SC.

IHC Chief Justice

In the meantime, on Friday, President Alvi swore Justice Aamer Farooq in as chief justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

Senior judges and government representatives were present for the oath-taking ceremony, which was held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr.

Sixth Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court and senior-most judge on the IHC is Justice Aamer Farooq.
