There is disagreement between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump regarding which network should host their upcoming debate.
Trump has expressed his ability to discuss Kamala Harris on Fox News in September. However, this modification has not been approved by the Vice President. Trump had initially agreed to a debate with Joe Biden on ABC News. This was before Biden finished his re-appointment crusade.
Trump announced the Pennsylvania debate for September 4 on his Truth Social platform. He refered to an irreconcilable circumstance because of his slander claim against ABC and host George Stephanopoulos.
Following Stephanopoulos’ assertion that Trump was “found liable for rape” in the E. Jean Carroll case, the lawsuit was filed. Trump had previously been ordered to pay the columnist $83 million for defamatory statements.
Trump’s assertion read: ” The Discussion was recently planned against…Biden on ABC, however has been ended in that Biden will presently not be a member, and I’m in prosecution against ABC Organization and George Slopadopoulos, in this manner making an irreconcilable situation.”
He also said that Fox News’ Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum would moderate, following the same rules as his debate with Biden on June 27 but with a studio audience this time.
Harris’s campaign clarified her rejection of the Fox News debate terms on Saturday, referring to Trump’s previous challenge to Biden in a debate.
In a statement distributed to X, Harris campaign spokesperson Michael Tyler stated: Donald Trump is turning to Fox News for help as he runs out of fear and tries to pull out of the debate he had already agreed to.
Tyler proceeded, “He wants to quit messing around and make an appearance to the discussion he previously dedicated to on [10 September]. In one way or another, the vice president will be present to take advantage of the opportunity to address a prime-time national audience. After the one that both campaigns have already agreed to, we are happy to talk about additional debates.” Harris herself made a post: It is fascinating how “one specific time, one specific safe space” evolves from “any time, any place.”
In the past, the Vice President had indicated that she was willing to debate Trump, accusing him of pulling out of the ABC deal.
Trump stated, “I’ll see [Harris] on September 4th or I won’t see her at all” on Saturday, asserting that Harris was “afraid” to “do a REAL debate” against him.
Following Biden’s withdrawal from the race, the political dynamic has escalated. Harris and Trump are currently polling equally. In the past, both parties agreed to hold two debates instead of the usual three, in June and September.
