Islamabad:
On Wednesday, Pakistan’s caretaker prime minister, Anwaarul Haq Kakar, reaffirmed the people’s duty to reject and resist the adversaries’ brutal propaganda campaign against their country.
While speaking as the chief guest at the Pakistan National Youth Convention 2024, the prime minister said that the youth could help address the growing threat to national security if they kept their minds on the task at hand and, instead of believing propaganda, verified claims with official state sources.
The honoree, General Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), also spoke to the gathering.
His words were a testament to the nation’s bravery and sacrifice in the face of terrorism.
Prime Minister Kakar lauded the military’s selfless and expert efforts in countering the terrorist threat. “The youth, who constitute 65% of our population, have been instrumental in Pakistan’s success in the war against terrorism,” he continued.
In his address at the conference, the head of the army warned the young people present that “propaganda” on social media aims to “spread negativity and chaos in society” among other things.
As he spoke highly of the next generation, he asked the audience to verify and validate posts on social media. Pakistan is our identity, and we would be “nothing” without our country, COAS told the audience, adding that the Pakistani military is prepared to confront any plot or threat to Pakistan at any time.
Furthermore, the army commander reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to its sovereignty and expressed his optimism for the country’s promising future.
While the army can battle terrorists, the entire nation must join the fight, the army commander said, referring to the youth as protectors of the country’s glorious traditions.
In his message to the youth of the country, General Munir emphasised the importance of self-confidence, pride in one’s heritage, and faith in one’s nation.
The head of the army also mentioned the country’s favourable demographics, including a large youth bulge, an abundance of agricultural land, and mineral riches.
