RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi divisional administration has asked wholesalers of food goods used for Iftar and Sehri to provide detailed data on food items.
Small and large vendors, as well as all dealers in the vegetable and fruit markets throughout the six districts of the Rawalpindi division, have been asked for the information.
Open notifications have been published directing suppliers, small store owners and wholesale dealers to provide the deputy commissioner’s office with data by Saturday on groceries, Iftar products, fruits, vegetables, grains and pulses.
According to sources, there will be a rigorous crackdown starting on Sunday. Any inventory products discovered to exceed the information supplied by suppliers will be seized and put up for public auction. Furthermore, hoarding sellers will be prosecuted as a FIR will be filed in accordance with Section 11 of the Anti-Hoarding Act, 2020.
Offenders risk a fine of Rs. 0.5 million along with a three-year jail sentence. During Ramadan, the administration underlines that stockpiling and profiteering will not be tolerated.
