The Wazirabad attack and the Kenyan murder plot were allegedly “hatched in London.”
Marriyum Aurangzeb, the Minister of Information, has responded to Tasneem Haider Shah’s allegations by stating that he is not affiliated with any party.

LONDON – A person who identified himself as a spokesperson for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has made allegations that the plot to assassinate journalist Arshad Sharif and attack Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was hatched in London.

According to a private TV channel that aired on Sunday, Tasneem Haider Shah, who claimed to have been associated with the PML-N for the past 20 years, stated in a press conference that he had three meetings with PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in the office of his son Hassan Nawaz. He also claimed that he was called upon to kill Arshad Sharif and Imran Khan during those meetings.

The first meeting took place on July 8, the second on September 20, and the third on October 29 according to Shah. In addition, he stated that he had been informed that Arshad Sharif and Imran Khan ought to be removed prior to the nomination of a new army leader.

He went on to make the accusation that Nawaz Sharif had informed him that if he could produce the shooter, the PML-N would give him a place in Wazirabad and the blame for the incident would be placed on the government of Punjab. On the other hand, Shah stated that he declined. Shah added that the conspiracy has been reported to the police in the United Kingdom.

The headline should read, “Attempt on the life of the former Prime Minister not a trivial matter.”

However, the PML-N strongly refuted the allegation, and its spokesperson and Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb stated that the individual in question, Tasneem Haider Shah, had no connection to the party. Marriyum Aurangzeb also issued a warning to the effect that no one should try to forcibly become the spokesperson for the party.

Aurangzeb emphasised that anyone who had any proofs should present them before the judicial forum if they wanted them to be considered. “Forgery, falsehoods, and fake news cannot divert attention from the true murders of Arshad Sharif,” she added. “[T]hese are the only things that can do so.”

Tasneem Haider Shah has been questioned as part of the investigation into the attempted murder of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, according to a statement released by the Punjab government’s adviser on the interior, Umar Sarfaraz Cheema. Cheema said that the authorities had contacted Tasneem Haider Shah and included him in the investigation.

Following the revelations made by the self-confessed PML-N leader, Cheema stated that the leadership of the PML-N at the central, provincial, and district levels would also be questioned about the Wazirabad gun attack.

He continued by saying, “The probe into the Wazirabad incident has been expanded in scope.”
