According to a recent nationwide Gallup poll, 88% of Pakistanis think the army is doing a good job, making it the most popular institution in the country.

The poll, dubbed “National Public Opinion Poll Report,” was conducted between June 10 and June 30 and included 3,500 respondents. These respondents were evenly distributed among Pakistan’s four provinces.

The study shed light on popular opinion on key institutions and politicians, providing an in-depth look at Pakistan’s current political scene and the issues the country is facing, such as rising prices, high unemployment, and doubts about the viability of its democratic system.

The study revealed the public’s opinion on a variety of institutions, with 56% of respondents approving of the media and 56% of respondents approving of the courts, but only 42% approving of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The highest percentage of respondents who were satisfied with a group’s performance was 54% for the police, while the lowest was 39% for politicians.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) had the highest percentage of acceptance for the army (91%) among all regions, followed by Punjab (90%) in second place.

The highest percentage of acceptance was found in Sindh at 88%, while the lowest was found in Balochistan at 66%. Surprisingly, 57% of people polled said they approved very much of the army.

The majority of his people still support Imran as their leader.

With an approval rating of over 60%, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has remained the most popular political leader in the country.

Saad Rizvi, leader of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), came in a distant second with an approval rating of 38%, tied with Parvez Elahi, president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), received the highest approval rating at 36%, followed by Shah Mahmood Qureshi (37%), President Shehbaz Sharif (35%), Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz (30%), and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi (28%).

PTI had the highest approval rating of any political party, at 59%, followed by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) with 42%, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) with 38%, the TLP with 41%, and the PML-J with 31%.

Comparatively, the approval ratings for Jamiat-e-Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Awami National Party (ANP), and Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) were 22%, 21%, and 20%, respectively.

In terms of voting intentions, the survey found that if elections were held next week, twice as many respondents would vote for PTI as would vote for PML-N. The PTI government’s economic performance scored the highest on governance measures.

77% of respondents were unsatisfied with the country’s current course, and 47% said the economic situation was “very bad,” highlighting the public’s discontent, which was also underlined in the study.

A small minority (15% to be exact) predicted that the economy would dramatically improve over the next year.

One-fifth of Pakistanis (20%) believe that democracy is not delivering at all in addressing the country’s most pressing issues, such as inflation, poverty, and unemployment, according to the research.
