The commissioner of Rawalpindi has issued a circular urging all government agencies to observe Independence Day with appropriate pomp and ceremony.

The Express Tribune has learned from reliable sources that each government agency has set aside a separate budget to pay for festivities including the lighting and decorating of government buildings, horse dances, patriotic songs, musical nights, circus acts, fireworks, and national anthem performances by bands.

On August 14th, following the recitation of the Holy Quran, there will be a flag-raising ceremony. Students in schools across the country have been asked to wear anything representing the national flag at these activities.

Director General of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Saif Anwar Jappa has issued orders to that effect.

On the other side, PHA Director General Ahmad Hasan Ranjha has announced that the PHA will be hosting a musical night at Liaquat Bagh on August 13. In addition to fireworks and decorations in every park in the city, a circus show would be organized beginning on August 13 and running for a week, he said.

In addition, the WASA waterworks, tube wells, and buildings will all be illuminated and decked out in holiday cheer. A nation that still goes all out to celebrate its independence, according to WASA’s managing director Muhammad Tanveer, is a nation that is still very much alive. Freedom is the greatest blessing, and Pakistan is a great country. He stressed the importance of instilling in the next generation an appreciation for freedom and an understanding of the huge sacrifices their ancestors made on their behalf.

The Rawalpindi and Chaklala Cantonment Board is also working to get the national flag flown over all government buildings and other major structures in the cantonment.

Cantt EO Imran Gulzar promised enthusiastic celebrations of Independence Day, on par with previous years. A number of structures along Mall Road, including the cantonment board headquarters, the PIA Building, the AWT Plaza, the State Life Building, the Mall Plaza, and the Mall Business Centre, will fly the national flag.

On August 11, Pakistan Railways will begin preparing to adorn the railway station building and the superintendent’s office building in honor of Independence Day with lights, flags, and other national symbols.

It has been decided to decorate trains traveling to and from Rawalpindi with national flags in celebration of Independence Day.

The commercial sector will also arrange for extensive displays to be set up in all marketplaces in honor of Independence Day.
