Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Convener Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has called on all political parties to demonstrate a spirit of sacrifice and unity in order to lead Pakistan out of its current crisis. He has also issued a warning against criticizing the military establishment, citing concerns for the country’s well-being and democratic stability.

Against the backdrop of recent elections, Siddiqui emphasized during a news conference in Karachi the difficulties Pakistan faces, such as its economy and the ongoing threat of terrorism.
He emphasized, “Now is the time to sacrifice one’s part to get the country out of the worst crisis,” underscoring the necessity for political parties to put the good of the nation ahead of their own agendas.
In spite of obstacles, Siddiqui expressed pleasure with the way the polls went, saying, “Many people were worried that the elections might not be held on time, but the institutions took responsibility and the elections were somewhat peaceful.” He pointed out that a number of independent candidates won during the election, demonstrating the rather free nature of the process.
Siddiqui warned against complacency, saying, “At a time when difficult decisions need to be made, political parties must give their share of sacrifice as it was the only solution,” even as he acknowledged MQM’s grounds for celebrating their electoral success.
He bemoaned the politicization of important matters at a vulnerable time, highlighting the necessity of coordinated actions to protect Pakistan’s interests against outside threats.
“Our neighboring countries are observing us, and they are anticipating a vulnerable moment,” Siddiqui cautioned, highlighting the significance of national cohesion in preserving tranquility, economic growth, stability, and safety. He restated that attacking the establishment at this crucial juncture would be counterproductive to Pakistani democracy and interests.
Siddiqui concluded by highlighting the voting process’s advancements and pointing out improvements over the past elections. “The triumph of many [PTI-backed] independent candidates proves the relative freedom and fairness of the polls compared to 2018,” he stated.
