PESHAWAR — The provincial government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has written to the director general of the province’s health services to express concern over the lack of certain essential medicines and request a report on the situation as soon as possible.
The letter claimed that the quality of care provided to patients had suffered due to a lack of necessary medications at various facilities, including hospitals, RHCs, and BHUs.
The letter requests action from all relevant parties in order to address the scarcity and erratic supply of necessary medicines across the province’s hospitals, RHCs, and BHUs.
The letter continued by stating that shortages of this nature might have devastating effects on patient care, including diminished treatment efficacy and increased strain on healthcare providers and their patients.
Dr. Riaz Anwar, Adviser to the CM on Health, has taken note of the situation and issued a directive to stock all provincial hospitals with the necessary medications.
