Imran Khan criticizes BCCI for targeting Pakistan cricketers
Khan made the accusation that India was acting aggressively and going after Pakistani cricketers.
Imran Khan, a former captain of Pakistan, called the cricketing alliance between India and Pakistan a “sad affair” and denounced it.
Khan accused India of acting haughtily and like a superpower in the world of cricket. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), he said, makes decisions on which nations to play against based on their capacity to support international cricket, and he added that this behavior is motivated by India’s wish to maintain its position as a powerhouse.
“The relationship between Pakistan and India is a sad and unhappy one. The way India today conducts itself as a superpower in cricket is really arrogant. “I believe they practically dictate today as a type of the arrogance of a super power of who they should play and who they shouldn’t,” Imran said on Friday on Times Radio. This is because they are able to earn a lot of money, more than any other nation.
The 70-year-old called it an act of hubris for the BCCI to target Pakistani cricketers. He quickly clarified that Pakistan has its own top-notch T20 competition, the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which also draws international players.
He remarked, “I find it unusual that the Indian cricket board should take it out on the Pakistan cricket players [by not allowing them to participate in the IPL] and it simply stinks of arrogance.”
Imran advises supporters not to be concerned about Pakistan’s absence from the IPL because he has faith in the caliber of the country’s future cricket players.
“Pakistan should not worry about it if India doesn’t let Pakistan play IPL since Pakistan itself has great young cricketers,” he said in his conclusion.
