Despite objections from the Registrar’s Office, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday scheduled a hearing on Bushra Bibi’s petition for Imran Khan’s protection in Adiala Jail for Thursday (tomorrow).

Chief Justice of the IHC Aamer Farooq considered the petition and the Registrar’s Office’s opposition. The counsel representing Bushra Bibi, Latif Khosa Advocate, contended in court that the former prime minister and chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was in imminent danger behind bars.

The Registrar’s Office had objected, but the court ultimately decided to schedule a hearing on the petition anyway. Khosa’s plea to have the petition heard on Thursday, October 5 was likewise granted by the court.

Bushra wrote in the petition that she was worried her husband would be poisoned in jail. She claimed that Imran was denied the home-cooked lunch, despite the fact that this was a perk previously granted to detainees awaiting trial.

She insisted that Imran’s life was in danger from eating anything that had been tampered with.

The PTI leader, according to Bushra, is not receiving the amenities to which he is entitled under the Jail Manual. She further claimed that her husband’s incarceration constituted a violation of articles 9 and 14 of the Constitution due to “the inhumane treatment” he had received.

Following the IHC’s directive, Imran was transferred to Adiala Jail on September 26.

The previous night, the police beefed up security in the vicinity of the Adiala Jail by deploying elite commandos and setting up additional security pickets to ensure flawless safeguards.

Later, Imran’s counsel Naeem Haider Panjutha told reporters that Bushra saw the former prime minister in Adiala Jail on Tuesday, stating that there was danger to Imran’s life.

I’m worried that Imran could get food poisoning over time… His freedom of movement has been severely curtailed, and he is being mentally tormented, he claims.

Panjutha claimed that he learned yesterday night that the PTI leader had been transferred to a subpar prison. “Security personnel have been stationed outside the cell and mobile phones have been taken for them,” he stated, alleging that this was a new strategy for “breaking” Imran.

After his conviction in the Toshakhana case, Imran was initially held in the Attock District Jail.

Last month, the IHC deferred his sentencing but immediately afterwards he was detained in the cypher case. Inside of Attock, the trial for the cypher case continued.

On Wednesday (today), the case would be heard by the special court within the Adiala Jail. Before the trial began in the prison, special court Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain had written to the law ministry to get their input on the proceedings.

The judge ruled that a special court could hear the case if there were no threats to Imran’s safety, citing the Official Secrets Act. In addition, the court would entertain a motion for an in-camera hearing of the case filed by the FIA.

Moreover, on August 10, the accountability court rejected the PTI chairman’s bail pleas in the £190 million corruption and Toshakhana cases.

His bail applications, he claimed, had been denied because he had failed to appear in court. The day he was released from jail was the date he said he was released from jail. He asked the court to suspend the accountability court’s orders from August 10 and release him on bail until the outcome of his applications.

The Registrar’s Office had already objected to the applications, but a division bench comprised of Chief Justice Farooq and Justice Babar Sattar has scheduled a hearing on both petitions with objections for this coming Wednesday.pak (NATIONAL PAGE) and home (HORIZONTAL) 1.
