Bushra Bibi was fined Rs100,000 by the LHC.
A bigger bench, according to Justice Tariq, has already prevented cops from harassing Imran.

On Thursday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) denied a plea filed by Bushra Bibi, the wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, to “halt expected police action” at their Zaman Park home over the Eidul Fitr celebrations.

Bushra’s attorney, Azhar Siddique, was also fined Rs100,000 by the court.

In a raid last month, the Punjab police detained numerous party members from Imran’s Lahore home as the former premier went for the Federal Judicial Complex for a hearing.

When testifying in a different case this week at the LHC, Imran expressed concern that another “operation” might be undertaken over the Eid holidays. The judge then ordered law enforcement to stop “harassing” Imran.

During the proceedings, Bushra named the Interior Ministry, the Inspector General of the Punjab Police, and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as respondents to his appeal. During the Eid holidays, there were “reports” that an operation would take place at Zaman Park.

A reference to the operation in March and a plea that the court prevent police from carrying out the alleged operation over the holidays were both included.

Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh expressed scepticism about the court’s ability to act based on “apprehensions” throughout the hearing.

The judge made a remark to the effect that a larger bench had previously heard the subject, referring to the LHC’s instruction not to “harass” Imran. “Why did you submit a similar petition again when a five-member bench has already given an order? In other words, he advised Bushra’s lawyer that their actions were inappropriate.

Justice Tariq stated the new petition was identical to the one that had already been heard when Siddique contended that the former decision was connected to not pestering Imran.

The judge noted, “Such petitions waste so much of the court’s time.”

Siddique then proposed that they drop the petition.

The judge eventually ruled against the motion and fined Bushra’s attorney.
