ISLAMABAD: China’s FDI in Pakistan reached $72.7 million in September, bringing the total FDI from the neighboring nation to $126.3 million in the first three months of the fiscal year 2023-24.
Gwadar Pro, a non-governmental organization, cited data from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to claim that in September, Pakistan received $84.4 million in remittances from China, while sending $11.7 million back to China. This created a net income of $72.7 million for Pakistan.
According to the Gwadar Pro report, China contributed 46.66 percent of Pakistan’s total FDI in September, while FDI in Pakistan as a whole remained at $155.8 million.
Similarly, China contributed $126.3 million in FDI to Pakistan during the first three months (July–September) of the financial year 2023–24, or 30.65% of the total FDI.
According to the SBP, foreign direct investment (FDI) in Pakistan grew by a whopping 28.9 percent in the first three months of the fiscal year 2023-24, reaching a total of $412 million.
