Governor Kakar reportedly gave his blessing to the name after a parliamentary committee recommended it to him yesterday night, as reported by the governor’s public relations officer, Paind Khan Kharoti.

Domki will soon be sworn in as the new mayor.

Balochistan’s interim chief minister is yet to be appointed since three members of the committee responsible for making nominations were absent from yesterday’s meeting.

The committee had been informed that they would be meeting that evening at 9 o’clock. However, according to Dawn, a representative of the Balochistan Assembly said that only three lawmakers showed up to the meeting.

Speaker Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali constituted a six-person parliamentary committee earlier in the day, comprising three leaders from the previous assembly’s treasury and opposition members.

After Chief Minister Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo and Opposition Leader Malik Sikander Khan were unable to agree on a name, the matter was sent to the committee.

On Tuesday night, the departing chief minister had rejected Domki’s candidature to serve as interim chief minister. After meeting with temporary Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, former CM Jam Kamal Khan Alyani and Malik Khan offered the idea.

over Wednesday, opposition parties had begun to disagree over who should be appointed to the committee.

Alyani went to Balochistan House to collect Bizenjo’s signature on the summary on the nomination of Domki, but Bizenjo, who is in Islamabad, denied that he had endorsed Domki as a consensus candidate.

The committee in parliament was then tasked with holding a vote to select a candidate.

Former Chief Minister Qudoos Bizenjo and former Opposition Leader Malik Sikandar Khan had three days to nominate a new leader after the Balochistan Assembly was dissolved on August 12.
