ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, the party’s chairman, along with other officials and activists were charged with terrorism on Sunday at the Golra Sharif police station in Islamabad for torching police vehicles, assaulting officers, and stealing their firearms.

Also, the day after filing a complaint against Imran and other party leaders as well as employees under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at the CTD station, the federal capital police arrested 14 more PTI activists during various searches.

The PTI leader arrived at the G-11 Judicial Complex a day earlier with 4,000 activists to testify in the Toshakhana case before a district and sessions court. He was accused of hiding information about the gifts he received from the depository in his asset declarations provided to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), which had then filed a complaint against him.

The judge was forced to postpone the case until March 30 and cancel Imran’s non-bailable arrest warrants after the police and activists got into violent altercations outside the complex when the latter attempted to escort their chief onto the court grounds but the former refused due to security precautions.

On Saturday night, Imran and several PTI leaders as well as activists were booked under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act at Ramna police station in the federal capital.

According to the police, ASI Riazul Haq of the Special Branch Bomb Disposal Unit filed the new case against Imran and the others.

In his complaint, the ASI alleged that he and his squad were escorting Imran for his security and were asked to keep their vehicle in front of his.

As soon as they approached the G-11 Signal Toll Plaza on Srinagar Highway, they signalled Imran’s vehicle to park close to a container so it would be easy for the BDS crew when they left.

Imran’s car, according to the ASI, was parked at the G-11 signal. He did add, though, that about 3:15 pm, a number of PTI leaders, including Zulfikar Bukhari, Azam Swati, Malik Saleh, Raja Tahir Nawaz, Hamid Zaman Kayani, and others, attacked the BDS van with sticks and stones.

The ASI asserted that as soon as he and the other BDS employees exited the vehicle, the PTI leaders began to abuse them and took their official guns from them.

They later set fire to their van and destroyed all of their equipment.

The 14 PTI activists who were detained by Shalimar police for storming the courthouse, according to the police, were also brought before a judge with the other party members who had been taken into jail the day before.

During judicial remand, they were transported to Adiala Prison.

Separately, Lahore’s Race Course police station lodged at least three more cases against PTI activists for torturing police officers, causing damage to their vehicles, and stealing both their goods and firearms.

The PTI activists, according to the police, attacked an Elite Police Force team as well as a constable who was walking near Zaman Park.

DIG Operations Afzal Kausar addressed the media at a news conference held at his workplace.

The DIG reported that Shafiq, a police officer, was riding his motorcycle home.

He immediately angered the PTI activists when he arrived outside Zaman Park.

They assaulted him and also damaged his motorcycle.

The PTI activists, according to the DIG, also attacked an Elite Force squad.

He continued by saying that PTI activists surrounded the Elite Police squad as they attempted to pass close to Zaman Park. They assaulted the officers, took their firearms, vandalized their car, and threw it into a nearby canal.

The third complaint was filed on Friday when teams with search warrants went to Imran’s home in Zaman Park and found evidence of alleged police abuse.

The cases were filed in accordance with Section 109 (punishment for aiding and abetting when an act is so assisted). In light of this and when no specific provisions are established for its punishment) Every member of an unlawful assembly is guilty of an offense under Sections 186 (obstructing the performance of public duties), 290 (punishment for public nuisance in cases not otherwise provided for), 291 (continuance of nuisance after injunction to discontinue), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), and 353 (assault on a public servant). Sections 120B (punishment of criminal conspiracy), 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting

Traffic wardens in the surrounding districts were alerted to the accidents and advised to avoid using Zaman Park as a route.

During the news conference, the DIG operations refuted these reports, claiming that this was against their policy.

He continued, “These orders may have been sent by lower ranked personnel.
Every resident, even police officers, he claimed, was free to move around the city.

He also stated that it was illegal to attack uniformed police officers and promised that the law will be followed.

He also committed to arrest the people engaged in the attacks on officers.

Nobody would be permitted to declare a section of Lahore a “no-go area,” according to the DIG.

The PTI also reported the preceding day’s raid on Imran’s home to the Race Course police station.

The PTI leaders’ homes, including those of Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, Mian Aslam Iqbal, and Hafiz Junaid Gujjar, allegedly came under police raid, according to the party.
