Imran Khan, leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), said at a rally in LAHORE on Saturday that any attempts to disrupt today’s PTI gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan would be thwarted by the strength of the people.

After getting bail in three instances, the former prime minister told reporters outside an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore that the current administration was engaging in “cowardly measures” by “arresting 1,600 PTI workers” to disrupt the demonstration.

Lahore, the province capital, has been preparing for the rally, and his comments come as containers have been placed to obstruct the roads leading to Minar-e-Pakistan.

The government and police have made measures to prevent PTI supporters from traveling to the rally location from other cities and towns in Punjab.

Imran insisted that “one thing was absolutely apparent,” promising that the procession will set a new record by drawing in “everyone” to the venue.

Imran told his employees that they all needed to be at the Minar-e-Pakistan today because the PTI would make history thanks to their efforts.

People are dying in lines around the country to buy flour, the deposed prime minister stated, adding that today he would reveal the “roadmap” of how to take the country out of the current imbroglio.

Imran released on bail

Three first information reports (FIRs) have been filed against Imran, but on Saturday, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted him temporary pre-arrest bail till April 4.

Imran had filed a motion for bail at the Race Course Police station, where he was accused of attacking police officers and torching state property in Zaman Park.

As the hearing began, the ATC judge warned the petitioner’s lawyer against bringing a big crowd to the hearing. He cautioned the attorney to bring a smaller team at the next court date.

Imran’s lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, contended that out of the 140 cases filed against the ex-prime minister, 40 FIRs involved terrorism accusations.

The judge ordered Imran to participate in the probe and summoned the relevant paperwork. The judge then issued him pre-arrest bail until April 4 in three separate FIRs.

PTI leaders Fawad Chaudhry, Ijaz Chaudhry, Hammad Azhar, and Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed have had their pre-arrest bails extended by the judge till April 4. Members of the PTI had been granted bail by the court.
