After appearing in court in Lahore on Wednesday, Aleema Khan said that PTI Chairman and ex-prime minister Imran Khan is “deeply disappointed and unhappy” with President Dr. Arif Alvi.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) extended Aleema’s and Asad Umar’s interim bails until October 16 after they appeared in court in connection with the May 9 riots case.

In the case involving the attack on the Jinnah House, the judge ordered the solicitors to give their closing arguments.

Following the hearing, Imran’s sister while addressing the media revealed that her brother’s health circumstances were deteriorating. He looks much thinner now. She expressed concern for his well-being and noted that there was nowhere for him to exercise or walk.

“preparations going on to keep him in jail for a longer period in the cypher case,” Imran reportedly remarked, according to the woman.

According to Aleema, the ex-prime minister has also said that nobody has approached him for talks. She also relayed Imran’s anguish at President Alvi’s “failure to fulfil his constitutional duty of announcing the election date during this crucial time for the nation.”

Voting Tactics

The PTI, in the meantime, is claimed to have developed a thorough political plan in preparation for the upcoming elections.

Party president Imran Khan reportedly gave specific instructions to party leaders for the upcoming election campaign, according to sources within the party. PTI intends to swiftly launch its campaign once the election date is set.

Conventions of workers will be held in each district of the country to rally support among the populace at large. The conventions will be an opportunity to interact with party members, listen to their issues, and win over their support.

PTI has also ordered its underground leaders to get to work getting ready for the next workers’ convention.

These leaders, who are now operating under the radar, will be entrusted with a pivotal role in organising the conventions and rallying the party’s support.

Once the election date is set, insiders say the leaders will come out of hiding and get involved in the campaign.

Date-related election dilemma

The PTI’s central committee issued a strong statement last month reminding President Alvi of his constitutional duties and urging that he use his authority to set a date for elections immediately.

The central committee declared that the president would be in violation of the Constitution and the basic constitutional and democratic rights of the people if he did not announce the poll date, despite the fact that he had finished his five-year term on Friday night and was unlikely to leave the office.

The committee implied that the “regime change conspiracy” that began in April 2022 would finally come to an end once the date for general elections was announced.

Only the ECP has the authority to make such a statement, the caretaker government has stressed.

In an early effort to fix a date, the President sent an invitation to Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.

However, Raja turned down the request, saying it was pointless because only the ECP could make the announcement due to 2017 changes to the ECP Act.

The president must contact the ECP before choosing a date for the election, as stated by Raja before the change to Section 57(1) of the legislation.

He noted that the commission was given authority to announce the general election date or dates following the change to Section 57.
