ISLAMABAD — Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh and senior leader Khaled Mashal have made an appeal to the Islamic world to support the Palestinian people in the beleaguered Gaza Strip, who are now facing Israeli bombing.
The leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, reportedly spoke with Haniyeh and Mashal about the current situation in Gaza during a visit to Doha, Qatar. This was reported in a tweet issued by the JUI-F on social networking platform X.
Aslam Ghori, a spokesman for the JUI-F, stated that Fazl arrived in Qatar on Saturday with a team that included Maulana Rashid Mahmood Soomro and Mufti Abrar Ahmed. He also mentioned that the delegation had a lengthy discussion about the Palestinian predicament.
The Muslim world, or Ummah, had a duty to stand united in the face of Israel’s persecution. Many nations that claim to support human rights are really sending arms to Tel Aviv. [Therefore], the Ummah must step forward to help the Palestinian brothers, mothers, sisters,” he urged.
The JUI-F said that former Hamas commander Mashal shared their views. He was referring to the recent massacres in Gaza when he added, “The developed [Western] countries have the blood of innocent children and women on their hands.”
In the same post, Mashal reportedly showed support for the people of Kashmir, who have been suffering Indian atrocities for the better part of seven decades. He claimed that individuals who claim to be human rights defenders have been “slapped in the face” by the continued conflict in Kashmir and Palestine.
According to Ghori, Fazl confirmed at the talks that Israel was attempting to alter the status quo in Palestine through oppression and injustice by altering the status of Al-Aqsa Mosque. He emphasized that the Muslim community as a whole must support their Palestinian brothers.
According to Ghori’s citation of Fazl, the Palestinians are “not only fighting for their land,” but also “waging a battle for the liberation of Al-Aqsa Mosque,” thereby doing their “duty of the Ummah.” The two leaders, he said, hailed Maulana Fazl as Pakistan’s “ambassador to Palestine,” and he said that the two leaders agreed.
Separately on X, Fazl tweeted about meeting with Haniyeh and Mashal in Qatar, where he conveyed regrets and solidarity from the Pakistani people and the JUI activists in particular with the Palestinian people in light of the current Israeli atrocities in Gaza.
Make sure they know that they have our moral, political, and diplomatic support no matter what comes their way, Fazl advised. Palestinian leaders Ismail Haniyeh and Khalid Mashal “expressed their deep appreciation to the people of Pakistan and the workers of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.”
According to Ghori, throughout the sessions Fazl expressed sympathy for the Palestinian martyrs who had died and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. Ghori claims that the JUI-F head will visit Qatar and Turkey to discuss aid for the Palestinians.
