During a light moment during the hearing of a property dispute case in Islamabad, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa praised the “unparalleled morals” of the Pathan community but said, “They just tend to hold onto grudges for a long period of time.”

On Tuesday, the mood of the highest court momentarily lightened when the judges broke into spontaneous laughing throughout the course of the day’s proceedings.
After lawyer Munir Paracha mentioned a case involving a disagreement between two brothers, CJP Isa chimed in to express his admiration for the Pashtun people.
The CJP admitted that the ethics and morality of the Pathan community were unparalleled, but joked that they merely had a habit of holding grudges forever.
The lawyer was taken aback by the CJP’s compliments, so he answered humorously, expressing his fear that he may have said something inappropriate in the wrong context.
The comment caused a roar of amusement among the panel of judges.
To his other judges, CJP Isa then expressed his view that reaching a consensus on the issue at hand would be difficult and highlighted the need to end the habit of routine litigation.
The land dispute case was considered by a three-person bench of the highest court, presided over by the chief justice.
