JARANWALA: To promote farming in the province, the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) opened the Pakistan-China Joint Lab for Artificial Intelligence and Smart Agriculture.

The lab seeks to advance innovative farming methods to increase field productivity.

Dr. Wu Jun, the CEO of CAS Cogniser, and Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan, the vice chancellor of UAF, both performed joint lab inaugurations. Prominent attendees included Sahibzada Khan, the director-general of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Tauseefur Rahman, the project director of the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park, and other dignitaries.

The Precision Agriculture Lab also held an International Seminar on Artificial Intelligence and Smart Agriculture as part of the effort.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Iqrar Ahmad Khan stressed in his speech the potential of data science, drone technology, and other breakthroughs in smart agriculture to increase productivity while lowering costs. He emphasized the significance of using drone technology to spray in Punjab’s villages, with the goal of boosting farmer health outcomes, lowering production costs, and increasing productivity.

Dr. Wu Jun reaffirmed the dedication to promoting agricultural research in the laboratory and putting farmers’ interests first when it comes to technology.

Stronger ties between industry and academia are essential to modernizing agriculture and achieving food self-sufficiency, according to Tauseefur Rahman. He reaffirmed the commitment of his organization to promote innovation in the agriculture industry.

Aiming to give farmers access to crucial meteorological data, Sahibzada Khan announced the release of the Kissan Weather mobile application.

Mushtaq Gill emphasized the significance of creating a productive agricultural market structure in order to shield farmers from middlemen’s abuse.

Dr. Saqib Ali voiced faith in the Precision Agriculture Lab’s abilities to promote economic growth via astute farming methods.

Experts claim that weather sensors, satellite imaging, and data-driven algorithms can assist farmers in monitoring crop development during the whole growing season and in addressing growth and other problems through balanced fertilizer application, efficient use of water, and optimized input utilization.
