The death toll from the earthquake in K-P has reached ten.
Cracks in the building prompted an evacuation in Islamabad.

PESHAWAR: After reports of further deaths overnight and on Wednesday, the official death toll from Tuesday’s earthquake in many parts of the country increased to 10, including two women and two children.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was the only place where people died (K-P). However, compared to initial claims of over 180 injuries, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported a reduced total of 62 injuries. It stated that 10 homes were completely destroyed and 55 had some damage.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the 6.8-magnitude earthquake had its epicenter overnight in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region at a depth of 180 kilometers. According to the United States Geological Survey, the 6.5 tremor in Badakhshan was centered close to Jurm.
The massive earthquake that shook the region, including Afghanistan, several regions of Central Asia, and India, has so far had the greatest impact on K-P. The region’s overall death toll increased to 14.
Several cities in the provinces of Punjab and Balochistan experienced tremors as well, but there were no reports of injuries. Yet, there were some high-rise structures in Rawalpindi and elsewhere that developed cracks.
According to the K-P PDMA, the earthquake’s strength was strong; as a result, Peshawar’s major hospitals and other locations throughout the province immediately implemented emergency procedures. Also, it stated that relief efforts were ongoing in the affected districts.
Speaking on behalf of K-P Rescue 1122, Bilal Faizi stated that five districts—Swabi, Chitral, Buner, Lower Dir, and Mardan—received reports of wall and roof collapses.
Because of the force of the earthquake, “we expected maximum damage and issued an alarm,” Faizi told AFP. “But happily, our worries were unfounded. Despite the small amount of damage, the residents panicked owing to the earthquake’s size.
There have been no casualties or reports of infrastructure damage, according to the government of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). It did add, though, that a building had been evacuated after reports of cracks and that an investigation had been started.
Around 10 p.m. on Tuesday, tremors were felt over thousands of kilometers in the area. Despite being close to the epicentre, a resident of one village in Jurm area reported no casualties.
According to an AFP correspondent, the settlement in the snow-capped highlands had about 50 dwellings that had collapsed. A kid was among the four people who died and 74 people were injured, according to Afghan officials. In addition, 150 homes in the province of Laghman were damaged.
In the meantime, on Wednesday during its joint session, the parliament offered Fateha for those who perished in the country’s earthquakes that occurred last night, as well as for the martyrs of the Angoor Adda encounter and the Avaran flash floods.
