The provisional administration of the Taliban in Kabul issued a statement on Friday stating that the people of the war-torn nation will not gain from sanctions and prohibitions.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesman for the Taliban, stated that include Taliban commanders on the list of individuals subject to sanctions “is not beneficial to any side.”
“Rather than relying on coercion and sanctions, we should engage in engagement, discourse, and attempt to understand one another. According to a statement released by the spokesperson, “repeating the failed experience against Afghans and imposing politics did not give results.”
His comment occurred after the EU Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime was used to apply restrictive measures against 18 individuals and five entities, including three important leaders of the Taliban. His statement came after this action was taken by the European Council.
According to a statement that was released by the European Council, “[These individuals are included] because of their role in depriving Afghan girls and women of their right to education, access to justice, and equal treatment between men and women.”
Since the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021, they have barred Afghan women from obtaining higher education and from working in a variety of positions within the governmental sector.
