ISLAMABAD: Pakistan stated on Sunday that it is “deeply concerned” about the current events in the Middle East and that it is imperative that things be stabilized and peace be restored.

The FO official said that Pakistan has been emphasizing for a few months now the necessity of international efforts to guarantee peace in the region and a ceasefire in Gaza.

According to the FO, Pakistan had cited the April 2 attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria as a significant escalation in the area, and the current events demonstrate a breakdown in diplomacy.

According to the statement, these kinds of instances also highlight the serious consequences that result when the UN Security Council is unable to carry out its duties in preserving global peace and security.

Pakistan urged all sides to defuse the situation and act with the utmost moderation.

Pakistan has already praised the interim sanctions on Israel that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) had imposed in response to Israel’s invasion of Gaza.

The FO stated, “We view the ICJ’s decision as timely and a major turning point in the fight for justice for the Palestinian people and international accountability of Israel.”

Pakistan demanded that the International Court of Justice’s ruling be fully and effectively implemented in order to safeguard and preserve the fundamental human rights, dignity, and identity of the Palestinian people as a unique group, as required by the United Nations Charter, pertinent UN resolutions, and international law.

“Pakistan reiterates that it will always stand by the Palestinian people as they fight for the realization of their unalienable right to self-determination,”

Similar to this, it stated, “Pakistan has supported the application filed by South Africa before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel under the 1948 Genocide Convention, in response to which the Court today announced the provisional measures.”
