ISLAMABAD: On Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave the go-ahead for the “Pakistan Skill Company” to be established in order to improve job prospects for Pakistani workers who want to work overseas.

The decision was made in relation to the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (MOPHRD) and the National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTCC) at a sectoral briefing.

The prime minister oversaw the instant creation of the Pakistan Skill Development Fund as well as the consolidation of technical and vocational education across the country.

He underlined how crucial NAVTTC is to giving young people access to top-notch training and globally recognized technical certificates.

In order to raise Pakistani labor standards internationally, Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized cooperation between federal agencies and the provinces. He also argued in favor of an integrated regulatory framework.

He demanded that technical and vocational training programs be put into place in accordance with international standards.

The prime minister also pushed for changes to the licensing system for businesses hiring Pakistani technicians and vocational workers overseas, as well as a consolidated database of Pakistani labor.

He oversaw the creation of a committee for changes in the MOPHRD and NAVTTC and placed a strong emphasis on merit and openness in the appointment of community welfare attachés in Pakistani embassies.

During the meeting, it was revealed that NAVTTC intends to implement the following reforms, with the goal of training 60,000 people this year and 60,000 people overall over the next three years.

Initiatives to assist the youth of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan were also deliberated, encompassing the allocation of federal quotas and the initiation of a specific training program slated to begin in June of this year.

The Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, the Ministry of Federal Education, and the NAVTTC signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) to construct a new training center in Islamabad earlier on May 5.

Musadik Masood Malik, the federal minister of petroleum, added that the prime minister had developed a strategy to give young people employment chances when they finish their degrees.
