A recent study suggests that the epidemic may have permanently altered people’s personalities.

Even though it hasn’t even been three years since the epidemic rocked the planet, researchers from the Florida State University College of Medicine think that the psychological changes are on par with those that happen once every ten years.

Other research revealed no connection between people’s characteristics and natural disasters like earthquakes and floods. The team speculates that COVID-19 may have completely altered how people think and act.

Younger individuals are becoming “less cooperative” and more sensitive to stress, according to the authors.

7,109 individuals who had participated in the Understanding America Study online were evaluated as part of the study that was published in the journal PLoS ONE.

The early pandemic, the latter phase, and the pre-pandemic personality features were contrasted (2021 and 2022). The participants’ ages ranged from 18 to 109, and they were virtually evenly split between men and women (41.2%).

Positive personality qualities including openness, extraversion, and conscientiousness decreased over time, according to the study. In the meantime, neuroticism rose while agreeableness fell.
