According to Shehbaz, the Army Chief exerted a great deal of effort in order to fulfill one of the remaining IMF stipulations.

ISLAMABAD:

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif praised Gen. Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), for his efforts in obtaining financial guarantees from friendly nations, one of the final requirements the International Monetary Fund (IMF) set in order to resume loans.

Shehbaz stated that the IMF agreement was in its final stages while speaking to a gathering of the coalition parties. He claimed that “the army chief made enormous efforts in this regard” (obtaining financial guarantees from friendly nations).

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) had promised the IMF a $1 billion loan to Islamabad days prior to the prime minister’s announcement, according to finance minister Ishaq Dar. A $2 billion loan was previously backed by Saudi Arabia.

The prime minister praised the efforts of both Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Finance Minister Dar, who he claimed worked through the night to ensure the success of the talks with the IMF.

Shehbaz expressed his expectation that the deal with the IMF will be completed soon, saying that the IMF’s final need was that the friendly nations deposit money as guarantors.

Regarding the economic problems caused by the IMF deal’s delay, Shehbaz remarked, “We will not abandon ship in the middle of the sea. Rather, it will be sailed ashore.” “I am confident that with Allah’s assistance, victory will come and our issues will be resolved.”

Shehbaz emphasized that the current ruling alliance has been in power for a whole year. The coalition parties’ administration, he said, confronted challenges together despite the perception that it would last for a long time.

The allies’ efforts to help the nation out of its challenges are also demonstrated by these stages. All of the allies have consistently contributed well. Without the assistance of the allies, the government would not have been successful, he said.

The coalition partners’ differences of opinion were acknowledged by the prime minister. “We occasionally agreed [with the opposing side] and occasionally won them over. This, he remarked, is the beauty of democracy.

Shehbaz also informed the attendees of the meeting that he would be speaking on the phone with the new Chinese Premier Li Qiang in the final week of April to discuss issues of mutual interest.

The prime minister stated that it had never occurred anywhere in the world for a court to postpone the application of a legislation even before its promulgation, in reference to the continuing issue surrounding the Supreme Court’s decision regarding general elections in Punjab.

The three-member bench’s ruling, according to him, encouraged the bar councils to speak up for the rule of law because they too thought it went against the standards of justice.
