The provincial government of Balochistan has announced that the long-awaited intercity Green Bus Service will begin service in the provincial capital of QUETTA.

The first day of bus service is Monday, July 17th.
In a statement, Chief Minister Mir Quddus Bizenjo praised the project as an important step towards his goal of providing reliable transport for the people of Quetta. The official start of bus service in this province capital was also announced on Twitter by Chief Secretary Balochistan Abdul Aziz Uqaili.
The project’s implementation has been greatly aided by Dr. Faisal Ahmed Khan, who serves as Chief of the Balochistan Public-Private Partnership Project.
According to a reliable provincial government source who spoke with The Express Tribune, everyone involved in the start of the long-awaited green bus initiative in the provincial capital has been consulted.
But he said that the administration had finally chosen to buy eight buses in order to better serve the public. During the trial run, eight buses would run between Serena Chowk Quetta and Belili, and another eight would run between Serena Chowk Quetta and Sariab Customs.
It’s worth noting that the government helmed by Jam Kamal Khan gave the project the green light.
The initiative’s commencement was motivated by a desire to improve transit options for Quetta’s residents. Unfortunately, bureaucratic roadblocks and a lack of political will prevented the timely rollout of the green bus service.
Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan are just some of the other cities in Pakistan to have introduced metro bus services as part of similar initiatives.
There are just seven bus routes serving Quetta’s three million residents, and the city’s public transit infrastructure is about 30 years old. It’s tough for individuals to get around because there are just seven bus routes.
