LAHORE — In response to the Islamabad court’s decision to imprison former prime minister Imran Khan,

The PTI and legal community have spoken out against this judgment for the second time in three months on Saturday, stating plans to organize statewide protests and seek legal recourse.
The PTI’s central committee quickly issued a forceful statement after the Toshakhana case led to the arrest of the PTI leader, calling the detention the consequence of “a biased and flawed judicial decision” and demanding that the Supreme Court hear the PTI’s review appeal without further delay. It encouraged party members to protest legally but peacefully.
At the same time, the legal community joined the clamor, claiming that “hidden forces” were at work in the rushed decision to undermine the strengthening of the democratic system in the country. They cautioned the ruling alliance’s political leaders who were praising the verdict that they, too, may be tried and executed the following day.
Both the PTI and the legal community have rejected the court’s judgment, increasing political tensions as the country prepares for elections that were scheduled for November but may now be postponed indefinitely.
The Supreme Court will not uphold unconstitutional military actions, according to this report. CJ
In addition to putting Imran in further legal peril, the court’s decision marks the second time in three months that he has been arrested, and is only one of several charges that have been filed against him.
“Don’t sit idly by in your house”
The party broadcast a pre-recorded video message from Imran shortly after his arrest in the Toshakhana case, in which the leader urged his supporters to engage in peaceful rallies until their rights were given.
In the video, Imran said he expected to be arrested but was still going to keep fighting for justice. They’ll have already nabbed me by the time you read this. This is another important step toward realizing the London Plan, but I insist that my party members stay calm, united, and powerful.
My sole plea is that you not remain idle in your houses. I’m fighting for your sake, the sake of our country, and the sake of our children. Please don’t stop protesting; you’re fighting for your rights and freedom. Slavery is a way of life, and free people need to fight for their freedom. We declare our faith in the phrase “La Illaha Illallah,” which means “We worship no god but Allah, the Almighty.”
The PTI leader told his followers they shouldn’t be afraid of the harsh activities of the government because Pakistan was founded on the values of freedom.
“Mock trial”
While this was going on, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi called an emergency meeting of the PTI core committee, which was convened via video link. The PTI chairman’s arrest and the court’s verdict in the Toshakhana case were discussed, and a plan to secure his release was developed.
It rejected the former premier’s conviction, claiming that his imprisonment was the product of a biased and erroneous judicial judgment, and it called for a statewide peaceful demonstration.
The committee also requested that the review petition the party filed be heard expeditiously by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. That “our appeal should be fixed for a hearing on a priority basis without considering holidays and other routines,” they said.
The party’s leadership unanimously decided to promptly put the chairman’s organizational and political directives into action.
The conference said that “the whole facade of implicating Imran was a pre-arranged plan” and that “the whole nation has rejected the wrong decision of a biased judge.”
The party’s core committee members also said the verdict was handed out after “a fake trial.”
They invoked the Constitution to support their freedom to demonstrate peacefully. Our protests will be guided by the counsel and directives of our chairman. It went on to say, “We will do so peacefully and within the framework of the Constitution and the law.”
In total, 54 changes have been suggested to the Election Act.
The committee pledged to take all necessary legal action to achieve their leader’s release and encouraged party members to stage legitimate protests within the law’s parameters.
Fundamental rights were denied by Imran.
The people consider the judgement as contrary to the rules of justice, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi remarked in a video message. He asserted that Imran’s right to a fair trial had been violated and he encouraged party members to keep working for Imran’s release.
Warning the fan, however, against enforcing the law on their own.
For his part, PTI leader and ex-federal minister Asad Umar tweeted that the ruling violated principles of law and justice. He replied, “This decision would not stand in the high court,” and went on to say that the people’s emotions, not the courts, were where important decisions concerning politicians were made.
Lahore High Court Bar Association officials have also spoken out, saying that the speed with which the case was decided went against the principles of due process and the rule of law.
He said that the verdict was announced illegally and that the extra district and sessions judge disregarded a recent ruling from the Islamabad High Court.
“Secret forces at work”
It is sad that the PTI chairman was not allowed to exercise his right to self-defense, as stated in a joint statement by President Chaudhry Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan, Vice President Rabia Bajwa, and Finance Secretary Muhammad Shahrukh Warriach of the Lahore High Court Bar Association.
According to them, the decision was made too quickly, suggesting that unseen forces “who do not want to strengthen the democratic system in the country” were responsible for it.
Political officials in the ruling alliance are backing the authorities, which is a cause for concern since “they should keep in mind that they may have to face the same fate tomorrow,” they said.
