Sheikh Rashid Ahmad, leader of the Awami Muslim League (AML), declared on Sunday that he will support Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan in “this battle” for as long as it continues.

The former minister declared in a video shared on his official Twitter account, “I am not a coward, I maintain friendships and enmities till death.”

He said that his siblings, nieces, nephews, and the home of his mother (who passed away 30 years ago) had all been subject to police raids during the preceding 20 days.

Even though he was not in the country on May 9, AML leader said he was condemning the events because the “Pakistan Army is great and protector of the country.”

In addition, he said that three hit men had been hired to kill him. I’m here to inform everybody in this country that I have the legal right to protect myself. I’ve contacted the genuine authorities in Pakistan,” he said.

The “limit to oppression” was another statement made by Rashid.

In the previous 20 days that I’ve been tweeting, I haven’t even gone on a TV talk show. He threatened to keep tweeting until he was jailed if they were terrified of what they would find on his account.

Malik Khurram Khan, a former PTI MPA from the Punjab Assembly, has left the party, citing his “deep sadness” over the events of May 9.

Khurram remarked in a news conference today that Pakistan and its national security institutions are more important than politics, and that he cannot support a political party that is hostile to these institutions.

He criticized those who would use the National Security Agency as a political platform. The ex-MPA continued by saying he had no intention of opposing Pakistan or its troops.

His political career would continue because “I will continue politics for the betterment of people of my constituency,” he said.

Khurram’s departure from the erstwhile ruling party is the most recent. There have been about twenty-five PTI leaders who have resigned from the party after the arson attack on May 9.
