After being released from Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi’s agony resumed on Saturday when he was arrested again in ISLAMABAD.

According to Express News, anti-corruption Punjab arrested Elahi as he was travelling to Lahore.

A dozen or more arrests have been made against PTI leader Elahi, according to his lawyer, Sardar Abdul Razzaq.

The anti-corruption agencies requested a one-day transit remand, and the Islamabad court granted it when the PTI president was arrested and brought before it. The court has ordered his immediate appearance in the relevant court.

Elahi, according to Razzaq, would be sent to Lahore while he is on transit remand. From the judicial complex, “the anti-corruption cell took Elahi and headed for Lahore,” he said.

Elahi’s bail in the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) riot case was granted by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) the day before.

Bail granted in FJC attack case against Elahi

The PTI central president was released from jail after ATC Judge Abual Hasnat Zulqarnain granted him bail in exchange for Rs20,000 in surety bonds. After a lengthy remand, the court noted that the prosecution had found no evidence against Elahi and ruled that further investigation of the accused was unnecessary.

After being arrested many times, Elahi said he will be filing a plea with the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to prevent further detention. “Razzaq will enter a plea soon in order to prevent further arrests.”

Elahi’s plight has no resolution in sight.

On March 18, party chairman Imran Khan appeared before the FJC to discuss the Toshakhana matter, and he was met with resistance by PTI members.

A full five months after the initial incident, on September 5, Elahi was detained in connection with the FJC case, just hours after the IHC had ordered his release from detention under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) legislation.

The former chief minister of Punjab was initially given a two-day physical remand by the police, and then he was given a 14-day judicial remand in connection with the FJC attack case.
