On Wednesday, Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the former chief minister of Punjab and the current president of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was moved from the District Jail Lahore to the Central Jail Adiala in Rawalpindi.

Notably, on July 16, detention orders for Elahi were issued by the Lahore municipal government under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3MPO) for a period of 30 days.
However, he has been held in police custody since his initial arrest on corruption charges on June 1. After being released, he was promptly re-arrested on numerous counts.
Lahore Police transferred Elahi to Rawalpindi this morning, keeping a close eye on him the whole way. The police also delivered the DC Lahore’s 3MPO directives to the Central Jail.
Elahi was examined by the jail doctor after being transferred to Central Jail Adiala.
He was eventually sent to a maximum-security facility.
Police refusal to release Elahi angers judge.
According to reports, the PTI leader has been sent to Rawalpindi from Lahore for administrative reasons.
However, Elahi’s transfer from Camp Jail has been challenged in a plea filed by Qaisara Elahi in the Lahore High Court.
The petitioner has named the caretaker administration and several other prominent individuals as respondents.
The application states that Elahi has been released on bail in all instances and that an appeal for his release has been filed with the government of Punjab.
She further said that “unidentified persons” took Elahi from Lahore to an unspecified place.
The petition asked for Parvez Elahi to be apprehended and brought before the judge. It also sought the court to overturn the detention orders and prevent his arrest under any circumstances.
