Former prime minister and current Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan had his bail revoked in three separate cases on Tuesday by an anti-terrorism court in Islamabad.

The bail for Imran has been revoked since he failed to appear in court, as declared by ATC Judge Abul Hasnaat Zulfiqar.

The PTI chief had bail applications pending in both the Khana and Bharakahu police stations.

On August 5, 2023, Imran was taken into custody after being given a three-year prison term by a district and sessions court in Islamabad for failing to report Toshakhana presents. The complaint lodged by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) against the ex-prime minister was heard and decided by Judge Humayun Dilawar.

A ‘physical altercation’ between PTI chief’s attorneys and Attock Jail staff has resulted in their booking.

It is “beyond doubt” that he is dishonest, Judge Humayun Dilawar wrote in his judgement. “He has been found guilty of corrupt practises by deliberately concealing the benefits he derived from the national exchequer,” the verdict read.

The PTI leader has now been arrested twice in the span of three months. He’s been incarcerated in Attock Jail for some time now.

An accountability court in Islamabad denied Imran’s bail application in a 190 million pound graft case last week, and an ATC in Lahore rejected his release in seven cases the week before.

There have been over 150 charges filed against the ex-prime minister since he was forced out of power in April 2022 by a motion of no-confidence.

Focus on Interim PM

Meanwhile, PTI veteran and ex-foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told the media on Tuesday that tensions between political parties are rising after appearing before an ATC in Islamabad.

Qureshi has called on interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar to do the right thing and release all PTI supporters and female workers currently in detention.

He went on to say that denying the PTI leader lawful access to the building would be unfair.

According to Qureshi, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) do not support Kakar. Qureshi claimed in a recent news segment that the two mainstream parties leading the coalition government created under the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) flag had agreed on Dr. Muhammad Malik, referring to comments made by former defence minister Khawaja Asif.

According to Qureshi, today is the day the PTI’s core committee will meet to discuss the party’s demands that Kakar establish a “neutral” cabinet and conduct “free and fair” elections.
